For many, the ability to deal with a complex issue like universal health care insurance reform equates to listening repeatedly, to the same song over and over. For most of us, after a while you get tired of listening and turn it off. This is precisely what's happening to the universal health care debate, America's public is tuning out. Obama knows this, and will thus capitalize on a sleepy public, who's current behavior will allow him and his supporters to enact universal health care reforms, with unfavorable results for most of us.
In the month's that follow, we will have the opportunity to view live interviews with universal health care reform recipients, who in a public venue, will go on to describe how they "got the shaft" when attempting to utilize their "Public Option" insurance benefits. These poor souls will lament, had they "listened" more closely during the debate - keeping their previous health insurance would have been a much better decision.
Unfortunately, a large segment of our population will throw all rational out the window when something comes along which is perceived as "free". In the case of health care, or universal health care coverage, they believe, "somebody else will pay".
Recent examples which support this " I'll get something for free" mentality, "Cash for Clunkers" and the great "first time home buyer credit". In both cases, the user's of these government programs took advantage of "somebody else" footing the bill for their benefit, or pleasure.
It won't be too many months before the universal health care insurance "freebies" dry up, that's because the funding source for these and other programs will dry up as well. "Something times nothing = nothing". With taxpayers pockets holding but a few coins, the tax collector's revenue stream becomes nothing more than a wet spot in a dry creek bed. Our great leaders in Washington will then determine "adjustments" are necessary in order to continue providing for each and every citizen, guaranteed, quality health care coverage. For a preview of your "adjusted" coverage, check out the universal medical services, country's like Great Britain provide for it's citizens.
Simply wishing for something long and often, won't make it happen, unfortunately much of our population doesn't possess the ability to do much of anything else.
